This booklet was printed by Ruckman in 1988 and is no longer in print. Here's a jewel from page 20. To understand the quote, it should be explained that he had played with the number 1989 (the year he was guessing that the rapture would occur) in a confusing mathematical formula to come up with the number 382:
"The AV committee sat down officially to translate in 1607. 1607 plus 382 equals 1989–The date of the rapture could have been concealed in the figures that are involved in addition, division and multiplication of that very number."
For more on this, see Peter Ruckman's failed attempts at guessing the approximate date of the rapture.
“…COULD have been…”
He didn’t set the date in that quote, he said the date COULD have been. There’s nothing wrong with speculating about when the Rapture will occure. Dr. Ruckman has never made a living or sold a book based upon date setting as you have mischaracterized him here.
Re: “…COULD have been…”
I did not accuse him of setting a date, so I have not mischaracterized him. Ruckman himself has used the term "guess," (click on the link for the documentation) and that is the term I used.
out of print?
This book most certainly is not out of print. They changed the cover of it and brought it back. I brought a copy a few months ago and a friend of mine got a whole case of them in the last two weeks!
Re: out of print?
Could you please elaborate on this? I cannot find anything for sale on Ruckman’s bookstore website or their new catalog that would seem to be this booklet issued with a new title or cover. I just looked at my copy of “The Two Raptures,” but it is not identical in content.
It was foolish enough for Ruckman to have made such a public guess by placing the 1989 date it in print and in a sermon tape that was sold by them. Think of how much more foolish it would be to repackage with a new cover a booklet with that failed date after the fact and continue to sell it! And equally as foolish would be to buy such a booklet with a bad guess, not to mention buying it by the case!
Unless you supply more specific evidence, I stand by my statement that the rapture date-guessing booklet is still out of print, as it should be.
AND WHAT’S WRONG WITH “GUESSING” ????
You can guess all you want but it would be a waste of TIME.
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
If your parent told you it’s not for you to know…you’re not going to find out no matter how much you guess.
